Merry Christmas 2013

A wonderful Christmas 2013 morning that started with REM and the classic Guns n' Roses and Metallica!!! I feel like blasting the house down with the rocking and melodious guitar. If not for trying to be considerate to our neighbours, I would love to tear the walls down with the screeching Axl Rose and the heavy Metallica durm and bass. heee... . Well, every time I play GnR , it seems that I have to play Metallica too. I duno why. It seems or feel to be me that both of them have to be played before or after one another. And of coz, they always bring back my school hood days memories.

5 Day Holiday with 嘉嘉

Today my wife, Lynn is going for her 1st day work after her Maternity Leave. Well, and now it's my turn to look after our Little 小嘉嘉 at our house :). I gona take care of her from now, Mon-Fri. :) Hee.... . Gona shower, feed, burp, play, chit-chat and rock her to sleep... ...

I had just feed, shower, feed and make her to sleep ... .

Let's hope 小嘉嘉 will enjoy her time with me ... as much as I do :)

Our Newborn Baby

Now that my wife and I have a newborn baby girl, 小嘉嘉,  our life have become busier. Nowadays, my OFF days are spent together with my wife and baby :) in our new house. Yeah, my wife and I are kept busy feeding, burpping, showering, changing diapers and clothes, rocking "Yao Lan" and carrying our little princess. Well, our mini-me is indeed a Princess... whenever she cried, we have to attend to her. Haaa... .

Nowadays, she tried to talk. Haa... . baby's talk is cute. Her talking goes ... .Arguuu... Woooo Woooo... Wahh uuu ... haa... the language and the voice is really cute. Whenever she smile at us, she seems to melt our hearts. Lovely, Jia En :)

Are You Afraid to Fail

Recently I had read an article on Today: All S’pore has to fear is the fear of failure by Julian Persaud. He had pointed out that Singaporean are afraid to fail. I agreed with him. Or perhaps should I say many people around the world are afraid to fail.

In my opinion, as the early days of Singapore was very tough, the elder's advise for the young was that one would or could only be successful in his career is by studying hard, get a degree and get a professional job. Do not rock the boat and you will reach the goal safely. This safety approach is not wrong. I suspect the play it safe belief had influenced our personality subconsciously. This culture had sunken into us for decades and had affect us in our career, business decision, innovation ideas or decision making. Many prefer to stay put rather facing failure. Many prefer the tried-and-tested formula rather than facing a backfire. If you say that you wana set up a business, many will frown or say no-no. Many will think you are building castle in the air. I remember few years ago, an army friend told me he is afraid to to set up a business. So I ask him,"What are you afraid of?". He replied,"He is scare to fail." I am sure many share his fear. Many fear losing their hard earned money, time, effort and pride. Some even fear losing behind their peer groups. Many graduate will stick to their well paid white collar job. But nowadays, the word Entrepreneur had became a trendy buzzword. Secondary student to graduate wana become an Entrepreneur. Haa... now many young people wana sell from clothes to fashion accessories, cupcakes to cakes, cafe to restaurant, etc. But many are still playing safe by choosing the formula that other people had tried. Well, on the positive note, it is still a step forward to face failure.

I admire embrace the failure spirit of Silicon Valley. They seems like a charging bull with full of passion. Never fear failure. They believe failure is a step forward. As long as you learn from the lesson you are gearing towards success. They take failure as a learning curve to success. I believe it is this culture that bring them so many success and innovation that shake the world up. I believe great leader or entrepreneur have this no-fear attitude.

Many Changes... .

Hi there,
Here I am again. Yeah, it had been a long while I last blog in 2011.

Events changes quickly since last year, ever since June 2012.... .I got my house. I got married. And I got a baby now. All these happy events unfold pretty fast and perhaps too quickly for me to grasp. Of course, I am very happy with all these. It is just that I don't have time to sit down and ponder. One thing led to another.

Oh yes. There are changes at my beloved Liverpool Football Club as well. Hee... Liverpool FC had brought in a new manager, Brendan Rodgers. So far I am happy with his results. Currently, Liverpool FC sit at 2nd position, with 2 points behind leader Arsenal. Wowww... I can't remember when is the last time Liverpool had been in the top 3 at this time if the year.

Hope everything continue to went smoothly.

iMourn - Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs .. . I love your design .. . yeah, I like your ground breaking iMac design. Few years later, you had come out with the iPod ... . woww, the design and the turn-about control is simply fabulous. And years later, the very-much loved iPhone! I just like the platform design and the responsive touches ... . I just like those minimalist design. woww .. . And now the iPad. From iPod to iPad, you have change the consumer pattern and the world. That is incredible!

I am lucky enough to have read up a book on Apple story. Yeah, it is kinda interesting and inspirational tale. I guess I learn to appreaciate Steven Paul Jobs and Apple even more.

I think the above logo is a great tribute to you, Steve Jobs. It is a very-Steve Jobs design. A minimalist yet impactful aesthetic appeal. In fact, I am looking forward for merchandise with this logo. Btw, all thanks to a young Hong Konger who come out with it.

I guess I am a Apple fan to-date. But yet, I had not own any Apple products till now! I am looking forward to get hold on the iPhone soon.

A New Layout To My Blog ... .

I had just change a new layout to my blog ... . yeah :)

I had been shelfing this idea for a long time, coz I kinda dun wana give the old layout format of this blog as it had with me since I started blogging .... .

Maybe I feel like freshen up something in this blog, but the ironic thing is, I still choose a new design with a rather nostalgic country style leave pattern and color ... heee ... .

Anyway, I will stick to this pattern for the time being .. .

Oh yeah, do give me your feedback on this layout.

Losing My R.E.M.

Few days ago, I came across the news that R.E.M. had disbanded. Immediately, I am a bit shock and lost ... in my heart. R.E.M. is one of my favorite music artiste/band. Again, I couldn'e hear anymore fantastic music from one of my admire musicians.

I listened to R.E.M. when I was still schooling, yeah, well I can't remember I first heard it from radio 98.7 FM, weekly MTV dosage or been intro by my friend - Weiqin. But I remember Weiqin and I enjoy listening to Michael Stipe and R.E.M. . Both of us would be at Weiqin's house living room and he will blast the hifi's speaker in front of us.... hee ... . it's a fun and enjoying moment for us. In fact, I still get a kick whenever I listen to R.E.M. I like Michael Stipe's vocal and dancing style. Yeah!!! His dance is absolutely unique and you could tell he is really enjoying himself! Oh yes, I enjoy Michael Stipe's concert performance. He really hook you into his music. It's enchanting.

After so many years, the tracks Losing My Religion, Shining Happy People, Everybody Hurts, Drive and Man On The Moon still give me a great feeling! Losing My Religion's opening is always so addictive and attracting. Shining Happy People is a wonderful uplifting song with an unique 'sudden change' midway through their music. Everybody Hurts and Drive made me kinda 'blue' and 'silence in my world'.

Upon hearing R.E.M.'s songs, they often bring back memories during my school time. It is also during those time, I get expose and enjoy Nirvana, Cranberries, Boys II Men, U2, Metallica, Guns n' Roses .... etc.... the artistes list and songs goes on!!! Woww! Love those music!! I feel kinda fortunate to enjoy those music, yeah, so many wonderful music.

Again, how come my favorite artiste keep disappearing from our world? I feel so kinda 'wasted' that these great musicians still have so much more to offer and sending great moments to us... yet we may or never heard from them again.

Goodbye Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse, the great Jazz-Soul-R&B artiste had gone. Kinda sad that another very talented, or should I say another exceptionally talented artiste had left us so early. Although people come and people go, but I duno why so many artiste that I like or applause had gone so ... . sudden to me or to so many.

Artiste that left early Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Teresa Teng, Huang Jia Jun(Beyond), Michael Hutchence, Kurt Cobain, Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Roman Tam, Michael Jackson ... and now Amy Winehouse. Some gone by illness, some gone by mishap, some gone by ... .

Well, in fact I just realise Amy had written so many of her tracks. How ignorance of me. Now I feel more for her songs, in fact, loving her songs so much more now. I duno is it because she had gone too soon or I admire her as a song writter and singer or she writes those songs on her Back To Black album on her true accounts or feeling for her lyrics' content or she sing so uniquely appealing style or feel some connection with her coz.. well, I heard during interviews, she may talk to you, but at times she just remain silent.. Well, that sound familiar to me, bcoz sometimes I talk and sometimes I just remain silent.

They are people who complain they dun have enough. How much is enough? 1 million? 5 million? or 10 million? What is happiness? Money? Or state of mind? Yeah.. . well, I thought we need both. Maybe I should say it's a balance of both. Maybe sometimes, life's simple pleasure is a pure joy afterall.

I Don't Have A Life

One week ago, 3 of us are relaxing while there are no patrons. 2 of us are local and the Supervisor is a foreigner from Eastern Europe. My other male colleague trying to start a conversation, hence, he ask our Supervisor," So, how's life?"

She reply, "Don't ask me how's life. I have no life. My life is shit."

She's starting to get a bit work up. And continue, " I don't have family, no friends, no saving. And I am single. Everyday, I come to work and go home, come to work and go home. No friends no money."

At this point, I could see she's trying hard to fight back her tears. Both of us got a shock from her reaction. We could only apologise, with guilt.

And she said,"I suppose to have a marriage a month ago. But now, it's gone."

"So don't ask me 'How's life?'. I don't have a life."

Sore Eye Fellow

Recently, over a meal.. . one of my colleagues pointed out to colleagues AA and looking at me and say:"Oh,Christopher havn't taken any MC for this year yet, yeah?"

AA half joking and with said sacrastically:" He work so hard and wana get promoted!!"

I wonder is AA so sore-eyed that I havn't taken any MC? What is wrong with me being mentally and physically fit for the time being that I dun see the need to take a real or fake MC yet? If you are really unfit to work, then stay at home and rest - I didn't and won't stop you. If you are really so fed up with the company, then go ahead and find another one - I didn't and won't stop you. So why are you so unhappy that I didn't take any MC yet?

Promotion.. . most of the people would want a promotion. Dun you? I wan it - so that I could have more $$$. Dun you wan more $$$?? You may not want $$$ for more job resposibilities but I want.

That is not the first time I have heard from AA. Previoulsy, AA also appeared unhappy that I had volunteer to work for more $$$.

Natural Drug

Since young, I had discovered that I like to run. I supposed it is during my NS days, that I had fully realised it. I just love to run, run and run.

I like to run leisurely. I like to think of things during run. Somehow, it made me relax at times. Its fun and its gets a high feeling. Yeah, a runner's high.

Almost everytime after a run, I have a feel-good feeling. I can't explain it. Only in the later stage, I know the feeling might be caused from the endorphins. Yeah, I like that feel :) . I suppose this is one natural drug that one could experience and enjoy legally :)

Fashion Ambush

Today I have watched the last episode of Fashion Ambush. Surprisingly, this programme have made me glued and chase over it. The programme is about the hosts looking out for people who dress stylishly on the street. It will also cover the shop that these people wear. Hmmm.. . the most interesting part is Trey, the host-stylist, will give tips on-the-spot on how to further enhance the look, explaining why does it looks good and other ways to use the accessories.

Fashion Ambush is really interesting and informative! haa.. . hope it will be back to ambush the streets again!!! :)

Wonder Could I Zzzzzz After A Cup of Coffee ...

After my evening jog, I had Fried Rice and Otar as side dish .. . hmmm .. . quite nice .. hee .. . Oh yeah, I had a cup of coffee to go along as well (as I had a crave for hot coffee or ice cold chrysanthemum while I was jogging away) .. . hee .. .

Wonder could I Zzzzzzzz after my black coffee later .. . hee .. . :p

My Life in France

Just read My Life in France - Julia Child. It's a delicious book :)

I had already miss out the film Julie & Julia. Now, after reading this book, it makes me wana catch that film even more!! haa .. .

I suppose the film will show lots of yummy-licking food and the fun of cooking involed :)

Sometimes I do wonder .. . how many marvellous food recipes had been lost in this world after so many decades .. . :(

Well, hope I could place my hand on some of Julia Chilld's cookbook ... . someday ... . & cook it effortlessly with joy .. . :)
