Interesting People

Today is another round of the Project Superstar. I don’t follow-up with who is the winner. It doesn’t interest me. But, I look forward to the judges’ comments, except the female judge-who is more comfortable on commenting the contester’s appearance. The rest of the judges give wise advise on their singing technique. It is great to see the judges’ suggestions, unlike the judges in the Singapore Idol. They give sound tips on how to improve. They pin out pointers. They guide the wannabe superstar.

Oh, today I read a article on Jeanette Ejlersen, the Her World's senior fashion and beauty editor. It is interesting that she say Singapore women are wearing too little and lots of them attribute it to the weather. They wear the same thing,it's like a uniform. It's like a contest for who can wear the smallest top and lowest hip-hugger jeans. I find it quite true.

Today, I had a catch-up with Roy. An interesting and earnest guy. We eaten some cheesecakes over coffee, tea and plain water. Great to see him again. We might have some porridge with Mdm Kuek next week. Another wonderful person. But i guess she gona ask me 'Do you have a girlfriend now?'. Haa...

Applaud Susan

Recent news headers of NKF CEO Mr Durai and SPH have created shock and dismay among the public. Mr Durai has become infamous overnight. Some may ask do Mr Infamous has a clear conscious? Why is Mr Infamous accepting the 10-12 months bonus – a monthly $25K paycheck? Why is Mr Infamous traveling in 1st class flight? Why is there a gold plated tap in Mr Infamous’ private office?

Nevertheless, some are surprise to know that NKF can sustain another 30 years of operation without further donations. Wow. Lots of other charities would envy.

Somehow, I am amused. Why is Mr Durai taking SPH – Susan Leong for defaming, to a court suit? Why do he want to sue over the article, when it is the truth? The hard facts are there.

Applaud Susan Long for raising an issue of legitimate public interest.

Fantastic Albums

Recently I had just got hold on the albums by Keane, Thirteen Senses and Eminem. These artistes are fantastic. Marvelous debut for Keane and Thirteen Senses.

I am surprise to know that guitar is not a main instrument in Keane’s music. Wow. A rock band without guitar but piano. This is new to me. Their music is really catchy. Every time I listen to their Hope And Fear, I seem to find another wonderful track. Somewhere Only We Know, Everybody’s Changing, Bedshaped, Bend And Break, …etc. But most of their tracks sound so similar to one another. Never mind, I still love it. I love the way Tom is singing. Keane’s music made you feel the urge to sing along. It is quite hard to resist, even if you do not know the lyrics. Irresistible. Ireland has produce another great musician.

The other modern rock band that interests me is Thirteen Senses. The Invitation album. Their music seems to have full of emotion. Bursting of inner voices. I can’t really describe. It seem that there are so much sentiments in their melody that had been waiting for so long to be set free. Warmth, love, sorrow, heartfelt, roller-coaster event, happy-ending, tragic-ending…. .. The vocal is ordinary. But the singer has put his soul in his singing. Maybe it is because a simple vocal with so much sensation that it feel like we can relate to his music. By the way, the graphic design on their album seems to compliment with their sound. The boys seems simple yet full of senses.

The gem of hip-hop. The prodigy of hip-hop. Welcome the great Eminem. His music is really addictive. Hip-hop music is full of rage. Fury. Anger. Outspoken. I admire his memory to remember the long, long, long, lyrics! How do he do that? I even have a problem following through his lyrics while listening to his zapping rapping. Haa… Anyway, Marshall could really write so much stuff! Marshall has made another brilliant collaboration with another artiste in Toy Soldiers, an 80’s song. It is unique to rap, while portion of the song is being sing out by another singer. Just like his earlier Thank You with Dido. Fans would definitely wait eagerly for his encore.

Oh, another wonderful thing is, I got The Invitation and Encore at only S$9.90 each at Gramophone! Great Deal!

War Of The Movies

Yesterday I had watched War Of The Worlds. Lots of critics had given positive rave about this Steven and Tom remake film. Haa…. I find it so-so. But I like the ending narrating part which say something like alien couldn’t live in human’s earth atmosphere– whereas human being had already lived through the years in planet earth, whereby, human already have a natural immune system to the environment but not the alien. It could be a sigh of relief for people who worried about possible martian attack. Hee….

Last week, I had watched Initial D. It is a great film for street-car manic and fan of Jay, Edison, Shawn, …. Anthony, Kenny, Jordan… It is a film that keep you sit up tight throughout the show. It is comical. It is exciting. Zoooommm! AC86. GTR. FC. I am looking forward for their possible 2nd sequel.

I would not mind watching Initial D again.
